After signing LeBron James, David Griffin’s next job as Cavs G.M. was to find shooters to surround him with. ESPN’s Chris Broussard was first to report that 34 year old Mike Miller will join the Cavaliers to fill one of those roles.
The former Magic, Grizzly and Heat three point specialist will reportedly sign a 2-year, $5.5 million dollar deal to play with his good buddy LeBron James once again. Miller reportedly turned down more money in Denver to come play with James in Cleveland.

Last season Miller shot 46% from beyond the arc in the regular season for Memphis and then 48% from 3-point country in the playoffs for the Grizz. He was part of a bench bunch that played a big role in helping the Heat and LeBron James win back-to-back titles in 2012-13. However last season Miami amnestied Miller and he ended up with the Grizzlies and the Heat missed his production in the Finals loss to the Spurs.
Miller has played in 85 playoff games in his career. He’s averaged just over 5 points per game, but he affects the game in more ways than just with his point total. Defenses have to be aware of him when he is on the floor because he can knock it down from anywhere which leaves space on the hardwood for his teammates to drive to the basket.
In the last three post-seasons, Miller shot over 43% from beyond the arc and that’s what he’ll be asked to do here in Cleveland. Make shots from long range, space the floor and come up big in the post-season.
The Cavaliers have not commented yet on Miller’s status.
