KEVIN LOVE HAS SURGERY OUT 4 TO 6 MONTHS
Cavaliers forward Kevin Love underwent successful surgery this afternoon at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City to repair his dislocated left shoulder. The surgery was performed by Dr. David W. Altchek. Continuing treatment and rehabilitation at Cleveland Clinic Courts and Cleveland Clinic Sports Health will be conducted by the Cavaliers’ medical staff and Head Team Physician Dr. Richard D. Parker. His projected recovery time is four to six months.
CLEVELAND BROWNS FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK POSSIBILITIES
FRANCHISE QB?
If I’m Browns G.M. Ray Farmer and I believe that Marcus Mariota is indeed a franchise quarterback and is far better than any quarterback who will, or may be available in next year’s NFL Draft then I trade up to get him! Even if it means over paying for him.
I’m not saying I think Mariota is a franchise QB, because I don’t.
I’m saying if Farmer, head coach Mike Pettine and first year quarterback’s coach Kevin O’Connell, who was Mariota’s quarterback’s coach leading up to his pro day and the NFL Combine feel the 2014 Heisman Trophy winner is the real deal, then who cares what anybody else thinks, go get your QB!
MY PICKS
Having said that, it I’m the Browns I’m keeping picks #12 and #19 and filling two HUGE needs on this football team.
At #12 the Browns, if any of these three wide receivers are left, should draft Amari Cooper, Kevin White or DeVante Parker. All three players would give the Browns passing game a much needed boost with size and speed on the outside and a nice target in the redzone! Any one of them would help whoever is playing quarterback for Cleveland in 2015.
At #19 the Browns need to find some help at stopping the run. If either of these defensive linemen are available then Ray Farmer shouldn’t waste any time in turning in one of their names to commissioner Roger Goodell at the podium – Danny Shelton or Malcom Brown. Neither is a sexy pick, but Shelton or Brown would help immediately in containing the opposition’s ground attack and from their dead last ranking out of all 32 teams last year, the Browns are in dire need of that run stopper!
OTHER POSSIBILITIES
If all three of the above mentioned wide outs are gone at #12, then the Browns should draft Danny Shelton or Malcom Brown there and then take the best available wide receiver at #19.
Possible candidates there could be: Breshad Perriman, Jaelen Strong, Sammie Coates or Devin Smith from the Ohio State University. Smith would be considered a reach at #19, but he probably won’t be around at #43 in the second round when the Browns pick. So if you’re looking for someone to take the top off of opposing defenses in the passing game and for a standout special team’s gunner, then reaching that high for Smith would be the way to go.
NBA OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE – CLEVELAND’S SMITH AND BOSTON’S OLYNYK SUSPENDED, PERKINS FINED
NEW YORK, April 27, 2015 – Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith has been suspended two games without pay and Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk has been suspended one game without pay for their roles in separate incidents during Cleveland’s 101-93 victory over Boston on April 26 at TD Garden, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations. In addition, Cavaliers center Kendrick Perkins’s second quarter Flagrant Foul 1 has been upgraded to a Flagrant Foul 2 and he has been fined $15,000.
Smith’s incident, during which he swung his arm and made contact with the head of Celtics forward Jae Crowder, resulted in a Flagrant Foul 2 and his ejection at the 10:24 mark of the third quarter of the game. Smith will serve his suspension in Games 1 and 2 of the 2015 NBA Eastern Conference semifinals when the Cavaliers host the winner of the Chicago Bulls vs. Milwaukee Bucks series.
The incident involving Olynyk, in which he became entangled with Cavaliers forward Kevin Love and yanked his arm down, occurred with 5:22 remaining in the first quarter of the game. Olynyk will serve his suspension in the first game of the 2015-16 NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to play.
The incident involving Perkins occurred with 1:44 remaining in the second quarter of the same game.

CAVS OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE ON KEVIN LOVE
Cavaliers forward Kevin Love sustained a left shoulder dislocation during the first quarter of yesterday’s game in Boston vs. the Celtics. His shoulder was assessed, reduced in the locker room, immobilized and he did not return to the game. X-rays and a MRI have been performed, as well as further evaluation at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health today by Cavaliers head team physician Dr. Richard D. Parker and Dr. Mark Schickendantz. Evaluation and imaging have defined the extent of the injury: an acute anterior inferior glenohumeral dislocation with the corresponding ligament/labrum tearing and humeral head bone bruising. Currently, Love is undergoing training room treatments while additional opinions are being obtained and treatment options being explored. Love will be unavailable for the Cavaliers’ upcoming Conference Semifinal playoff series and an update regarding his status beyond that will be determined over the next several days.
PODCAST – RODA REPORT – NBA PLAYOFFS: CAVS SWEEP CELTICS BUT LOSE KEVIN LOVE TO INJURY
Here’s my breakdown of the Cavs 101-93 win over the Celtics in Game #4 of the NBA Playoffs at the Garden in Boston. A game in which they lost starting power forward Kevin Love to serious shoulder injury on a dirty play by the Celtics Kelly Olynyk in the first quarter and also lost J.R. Smith in the 3rd quarter as he was called for a “Flagrant 2 Foul” for swinging his elbow and hand back at Boston’s Jae Crowder and making contact in the facial area. Yes the Cavaliers came away with a 4-game sweep and advanced to the 2nd round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs, but now they must wait to see how long Kevin Love will be out due to that shoulder injury and if the NBA suspends Smith for a game or two because of his ejection.
I should be happy after a 4-game sweep of the Celtics, instead I’m pissed off and you can hear how pissed I am by – Listening Here –
