A PLAYER-BY-PLAYER BREAKDOWN OF THE CAVS ASSEMBLED BY CHRIS GRANT

Kyrie Irving – He’s an All-Star, thinks he’s a superstar, but he’s not. Soft and plays no defense.

Dion Waiters – Thinks he’s an all-star, but he’s not. Pouts and doesn’t understand and doesn’t want to play defense.

Tristan Thompson – Consistently inconsistent. Gets more shots blocked at the rim than almost any player in the NBA. 6th or 7th man at best on most teams.

Luol Deng – A pro’s pro and understands the game, but slow and old. A lot of miles on those tires.

Anderson Varejao – Hardest worker on the team and a solid player when healthy.

Anothony Bennett – If not a complete bust, one of the worst #1 overall picks in NBA history.

Jarrett Jack – Free agent bust.

Earl Clark – Stinks.

Alonzo Gee – Stinks.

Tyler Zeller – Nothing more than a back-up center at best.

C. J. Miles – An average bench player.

Mathew Dellavedova – 3rd string point guard who at least hustles and plays hard every night.

Sergey Karasev – Rookie who has some type of future in this league, but not sure what it is.

Henry Simms – D-League center.

Carrick Felix – D-League shooting guard.

    Accurate assessment!

  2. Edward Smith says:

A very sobering reality check. In black and white, you clearly show how poorly constructed this team truly is. And yet, somehow, Grant & Brown keep their jobs. That makes me wonder if Gilbert truly cares, or if he is all bluster & lip-service.

  3. Robert A. Smith says:

Kenny, I love that this is concise. It is very accurate except in Anthony Bennett. He has a beautiful shooting touch and really good size, w big hands. You can see his exceptional talent. He is only 19 and most certainly not a bust.

      You are joking right?

    • Anonymous says:

How stupid are you, he has shown bright spots but not enough to say he has some sort of potential

      • Muhammad says:

You cannot say he’s a bust. You compare his numbers when his minutes are the same as Tristan’s and there about the same. Take for example last night, Tristan 20 minutes: 13 pts., 8 reb.. Bennett 22 minutes: 14 pts., 8 reb., 2 stls.. And Tristan has two more years of experience, and this past draft was lousy.

  4. J. George says:

5 guys on the list should still be wearing college uniforms. Their skills shows it, their maturity shows it even more.
This is what early entrants gets you — raw skills, and immature players. Need veterans to balance the team and mentor the young players.
You think these guys act like fools if Battier is on the roster?

  5. Mike says:

I agree with everyone except for Gee, I believe he works hard and should be getting minutes. Effort is half the battle and he played hard for Byron Scott. I would trade Kyrie in a heartbeat for the right deal, or anything close to that. The old saying is your only as good as your point guard so what”s that tell ya?

    • Muhammad says:

Gee is terrible, a liability on offense and average defender at best. Trading Kyrie would be OK if they received something great in return, but he should be in the backcourt with a pass first guard. Waiters tries to get his shots and so does Jack.

tell it like it is…reality breakdown…all the wheels are off after the lakers game!

  7. Muhammad says:

Some of the blame has to be on Mike Brown. Does anyone see what he does during timeouts?? I’ll wait. He stands under the basket with his assistants while the players are sitting on the bench with no direction. No one talks about the play of Tristan and Jack. Tristan does the same move every time and catches the ball under the basket and pump fakes about 3 times. Jack forces shots and I’ve never seen him drive to the hoop. They Jack is a leader, but he’s played on 6 different teams in 8 years and plays no defense and shows no emotion. I say package Tristan and Dion for something..

When you tank seasons which is what was going on – it doesnt help when the guy picking the players at #1-4 every year & every other GM thinks you picked every player 7+ spots to high. Whats the purpose of tanking if your drafting the 10th best player in a draft at 4?? Basically your drafting like your a 40 win team which makes no sense!! Chris Grant might be good at setting up a front office or getting a ton of draft picks & cap space, but if you cant pick a player at 4. Would you ever trust him to draft in the middle of the round?? The dude was computer nerd with a system that never paid off outside of the luck of getting the 1st pick of Kyrie.

Kenny Roda- Stinks. A high school reporter at best.

  11. MrZoopy says:

This is horrible analysis – my 8 year old nephew could have written something better. I’m tired of hearing everyone say that Bennett is a bust and the worst pick ever. How can anyone say that, when he does not get a chance to play extensive minutes. Kenny, I’ve been listening to you for 20 years and you appear to have lost it. BTW – looks like H. Barnes and B. McLamore are busts, so maybe you are not as knowledgeable as you think you are.

obviously like your website but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth nevertheless Ill definitely come back again. gkedkcakddcb
