    The Good:

The Buckeyes did win the game 40-20 against a good Buffalo team that will make some noise in the MAC this season.

A great start for the Buckeyes as they jumped out to a 23-0 lead over the Bulls in the 1st quarter behind the passing of Braxton Miller, the running of Jordan Hall and the special teams play of Kenny Guiton. Miller threw TD passes of 47 and 7 yards, Hall ran 49 yards for another score and Guiton threw for a 2-point conversion and ran for another. Hall finished with the game with a career high 159 yards and 2 TD’s. Miller tossed the pigskin for a total 178 yards and 2 scores, while the Heisman candidate also ran for 78 more yards. Guiton added a 21 yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter filling in for Miller who was out with cramps.  

Wide Receiver Chris Fields hauled in scores from both Miller and Guiton as he finished with 3 catches for 53 yards.

11 red shirt or true freshman played in their 1st ever game as a Buckeye.

These guys made their 1st career start for Ohio State on Saturday: Noah Spence, Corey “Pitt” Brown, Taylor Decker, Joel Hale, Adolphus Washington, Tyvis Powell, Cameron Johnston and Armani Reeves.

With the win, Ohio State extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 13 games. The school record is 22 straight wins from 1967-69!

Ron Tanner’s snagged his 1st career interception.

LB- Curtis Grant had a career-high seven total tackles.
Freshman RB/WR/KR Dontre Wilson had 5 total touches for 80 yards.

  The Bad:

After taking that 23-0 first quarter lead, Buffalo outscored Ohio State in the final 3 quarters 20-17.

Ohio State lost the turnover battle 2 to 1 and had 9 penalties for 94 yards.

The Buckeyes were 0 for 1 on 4th down, turning the ball over in their own territory in the 2nd quarter.

Ohio State’s 2 best players Braxton Miller and Ryan Shazier left the game with cramps multiple times, while it didn’t seem like Buffalo had as many problems with the hot and humid weather to which Urban Meyer responded, “That was a hot mother out there now! We are concerned, we gotta work on it.”

Urban Meyer blamed himself in the post-game press conference for only throwing the football to wide receiver Corey “Philly” Brown 2 times.

Dontre Wilson fumbled in the 2nd quarter. Armani Reeves beaten multiple times and dropped an INT.

  The Ugly:

Braxton Miller’s 2nd quarter interception was returned 45 yard for a touchdown by Buffalo’s Khalil Mack. A throw that head coach Urban Meyer said, “That should never happen!”

Ohio State’s offensive line, expected to be one of the strengths of the team, gave up 4 sacks with right tackle Taylor Decker getting beat badly and Jack Mewhort missed the key block which led directly to Miller’s INT. On the 4 sacks Meyer said, “That’s unacceptable. That’s completely unacceptable and we’ll get that fixed.”
