LEBRON JAMES NAMED 2015 NBA ALL-STAR GAME STARTER

CLEVELAND, OH – The NBA announced tonight that Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has been selected as a starter for the Eastern Conference in a vote by the fans for the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.

The 2015 All-Star appearance will mark the 11th consecutive for the two-time NBA All-Star MVP (2006 & 2008). In his previous 10 All-Star appearances (all starts), he has averaged 24.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 31.1 minutes while shooting .515 from the field. Among all-time leaders in the event, James ranks first in three-pointers made (23), second in points per game (24.8), fourth in points scored (248), fourth in field goals made (102) and 10th in assists (61). In last year’s All-Star Game in New Orleans, James had 22 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 33 minutes to help the East win 163-155.

James has reached several historical marks in 2014-15. In last Friday’s win against the Los Angeles Clippers at STAPLES Center, he became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 24,000 points (30 years and 17 days old). Earlier this season, James became the Cavaliers’ all-time leader in three-pointers made, and also surpassed Charles Barkley (23,757) for 23rd place on the NBA’s career scoring list.  James currently has 24,054 points and has scored in double figures in 606 consecutive games, the third-longest streak in NBA history.

In 34 games (all starts) this season, James has averages of 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 37.6 minutes per game. The four-time MVP ranks second in the NBA in points per game and eighth in assists per game.  He is the only player in the NBA this season to shoot .490 or better from the field with averages of at least 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists. He has also won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award twice this season (November 10-16 and November 24-30), and his 47 Player of the Week honors are the most in league history.

The 64th NBA All-Star Game, which will air live on TNT and ESPN Radio in the U.S., and will be seen by fans in 215 countries and territories and heard in 47 languages, will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, February 15.
