CAVS OFFICIALLY SIGN LONG RANGE BOMBERS

As the Cavaliers wait for the NBA’s 30 day rule to pass to decide if they will include rookie Andrew Wiggins in a potential trade with Minnesota for Kevin Love, the team today officially signed free agents Mike Miller and James Jones.

Both had verbally agreed to join the Cavs recently but hadn’t signed contracts until today.

The two former South Beach teammates of LeBron James are known for their 3-point shooting and contributed to the Heat winning two titles in Miami.

Miller, a 6’8 -220 pound small forward is 34 years old with 14 years of NBA experience. He averaged only 7 points per game last year for Memphis, but shot a combined 47 percent from beyond the arc for the Grizzlies in the regular season and playoffs. He’ll have a similar role here with the Cavs, shooting the three and spreading the floor when he’s in the game. Miller will wear #18.

Jones is also a 6’8 small forward who averaged just less than 5 points per game last season for Miami. Like Miller, he is known for his long range accuracy. In a combined 35 games last year between the regular season and the post-season for the Heat, Jones connect on exactly 50 percent of his 3-point shots. The 33 year old Jones has chosen #1 to be on the front and back of his Cavaliers jersey.

Both Miller and Jones have a career 3-point shooting percentage of over 40 percent in their combined 25 years in the Association.
